Ballarat Aquatic & Lifestyle Centre (BALC) has been recognized for its commitment to excellence in safety and compliance and has been awarded a Gold endorsement from Life Saving Victoria following a recent pool safety assessment.
BALC underwent a series of rigorous assessments to meet all of Live Saving Victoria’s criteria. This evaluation measures the facility’s performance against industry, state/national standards, guidelines, and legislation. Only facilities that meet 100% of these criteria are awarded Gold.
Aquatic and Leisure Services Manager, Gerald Dixon, says the endorsement is recognition of the hard work and dedication of the entire BALC team for upholding a strong culture of safety.
“The safety of our patrons has always been our top priority. Our Aquatics Operation team in particular have worked tirelessly to secure these outstanding results.”
While Victoria leads the way nationally in safety assessment completions, concerningly most learn-to-swim operators do not undertake this important independent review process, despite it being a component of the Safer Public Pools – Code of Practice and Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations.
“Whilst the audit is time consuming, it’s an important step in ensuring our facility is safe for our community” Mr Dixon said.
The accreditation is valid for 12 months and forms an important component of BALC’s overall safety planning and continual improvement strategy.
