The Victorian Government announced yesterday (22 September) that Ballarat’s lockdown would end at 11.59pm on Wednesday 22 September.

We have been working with Ballarat Health Services and redeployed staff to make sure we can reopen for you.

We will be reopening on 25 Saturday 2021 at 6am.

Restrictions are still in place for the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre and right now we can offer Health Club sessions for up to 10 people at a time and recreational swimming sessions for up to 20 people at a time.

What’s open

  • Health Club, for 10 people at a time
  • All indoor pools, for 20 people at a time across all pools

  • Group Fitness classes
  • Swimming lessons
  • Gymnastics classes
  • Cafe
  • Children’s Centre
  • Changerooms
  • Steam room
  • Spa
  • Drinking fountains (please bring a filled water bottle with you)

Swimming and Health Club session times

Session times for swimming and the Health Club will be on the hour, every hour and will run for 55 minutes. Sessions will cost $5.

You must book your session online before you arrive. You can pay by card or cash when you arrive.

Bookings for sessions will open on Thursday 23 September at 3pm. Book online at www.ballarataquaticcentre.com

  • Session times are: 
    • Monday to Friday: 6am to 8pm  
    • Saturday: 6am to 5pm 
    • Sunday: 8am to 5pm 

Please note:

  • We will be checking IDs of people as they come into the Centre.
  • Drinking fountains will be closed.
  • No towel, no workout.
  • Bookings must be made before arriving at the Centre.

Important things to know before arriving at the Centre

  • Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre (BALC) will reopen for Health Club and swimming sessions only with restrictions on Saturday 25 September 2021 in a limited capacity.
  • In line with Victorian Government restrictions, only 20 people are allowed in the pool areas at a time and 10 people in the Health Club. 
  • All memberships will remain suspended.
  • Gymnastics and swimming lessons will remain on hold.
  • Café and Children’s Centre remain closed.
  • Session times for recreational swimming and Health Club sessions will take place on the hour, every hour. Sessions will run for 55 mins.  
    • Session times for Health Club and swimming are: 
      • Monday to Friday: 6am to 8pm  
      • Saturday: 6am to 5pm 
      • Sunday: 8am to 5pm 
  • Cost is $5 per session.
  • Strict Watch Around Water Policy applies for children under 10 years. Please read the Watch Around Water Policy carefully before booking. Refunds will not be offered if parents do not comply with the need to actively supervise their children.
  • All sessions must be pre-booked and paid on arrival to centre by card or cash 
  • Children and carers/companions must have a booking
    • Children under 5 are FREE with a paying adult. If there is more than 1 child under 5 with a paying adult they must pay for the additional child/ren. 
    • A carer or companion can enter BALC free if they are accompanying a paying person they are caring for. 
    • If the carer or companion is not accompanying someone, then they will be charged a concession rate for the service they are wishing to use. 
  • Bookings must be made via the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre website: www.ballarataquaticcentre.com
  • Customers must use the provided wipes to clean their equipment before and after use.
  • Customers must maintain 1.5m physical distance while attending the Centre.
  • Customers must bring a towel. No towel, no workout.
  • Customers must bring their own drink bottle. Drinking fountains will be closed.
  • Customers must wear a mask while attending the Centre unless participating in strenuous exercise or swimming. 
  • Customers must check in with the Victorian Government’s Service Now app.
  • Customers visiting the Centre casually will be asked to show their ID to make sure we are complying with the government’s restrictions of no people from Melbourne visiting regional areas.
  • Centre staff will be regularly cleaning the Centre each day to ensure customers’ safety.

  • Customers will receive a booking confirmation via email.
  • There will be no shared equipment available, in line with government restrictions.
  • Changerooms, Steam Room and Spa will remain closed 
  • Customers are encouraged to wear bathers under their clothes to allow them to get changed on pool deck.  
  • At the end of your 55-minute session, you will be asked to exit the pool, get changed and begin to make your way out of the centre. This will allow staff clean surfaces before the next group uses pool and health club
